We are a nonprofit organization that provides job readiness training, supportive employment, and mentorship to youth in foster care, the juvenile justice system, and youth who’ve aged out of those systems.

Empowering Youth in Transition

Ready for Good is here to empower youth facing the challenges of foster care and the juvenile justice system. We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background.
We provide youth with training, tools and support they need to succeed in life and work. We do this by:

  • Developing job-readiness skills: Through our flagship program, "Furnished for Good," youth gain hands-on experience in a furniture retail setting.
  • Building life skills: We equip youth with essential life skills like communication, budgeting, and problem-solving.
  • Offering mentorship: Caring mentors provide guidance and support, helping youth navigate the complexities of adulthood.
  • Transition coaching: We help youth prepare for independent living and overcome challenges they may face.
  • Wrap-around support: We connect youth with additional resources they may need, such as transportation and referrals to other services in the community.

    The youth we serve face difficult challenges when transitioning to adulthood. Many will experience homelessness, incarceration, and disconnection from school and work. 

    Ready for Good hires and mentors youth aged 14-26, transition-age youth likely to experience many hardships associated with transitioning to adulthood on the heels of system-involvement.

  • Building Relationships:The Power of Mentorship and Coaching

    At Ready for Good, we believe in the transformative power of relationships. Our staff and volunteers facilitate not only supportive work experiences and provide job training. They also provide mentorship and coaching. Our program is designed to foster

    • Trust and connection: We build supportive relationships that empower youth.
    • Coaching: Our certified youth wellness coach helps youth discern their goals, move towards them, and connect to work opportunities in the community at corporate and local business partners. 
    • Positive role models: Youth receive guidance and find inspiration in caring staff and volunteers that work alongside them. 

    Through caring relationships, skill-building opportunities, and supportive employment, Ready for Good empowers youth to build a strong foundation for success in life and work.
